"Full Cold Moon" Spirit Doll for December

According to Native American tradition, the full moon of each month has a name; and I'm finally finishing this series of Spirit Dolls with December's "Full Cold Moon" -- the month when "winter fastens its grip". This is an 8" stump doll weighted for standing with a pouch of polished river rocks inside the base. The face is hand-embroidered, surrounded by seed beads and sable fur. There is also dried sage in the stuffing and a Swarovski crystal hangs above the icy sequined full moon, both for positive energy. Some have asked for a photo of all 12 Full Moon dolls together, so after a photo shoot, I'll fulfill my promise to do that.

Hi Barbara, So wonderful to hear from you. I didn't know about the different names for the moon each month. Indian way of life is so beautiful. To be in tune with the earth. Your dolls are very beautiful. The anount of detail and love your put into them shines out so much!

She is so amazing...I love the details and really would enjoy inspecting her up close. You should consider a photographic journal when you finish all 12...add the fold lore and insights and you now have a book. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

The face is a surprise and a perfect contrast to the doll itself. But afterall, this is the December moon, the end of the year so the face should naturally look aged. Another Fab doll!

Good Morning! Such a pleasure to log in and catch up and see another great doll! I am soooo fascinated by these. I have looked on line and tried to find hints on how to make one.... I am looking forward to see all of them.

Blessings to you and thanks for sharing!

Barbara, she's fascinating. The fur, beads, feathers and embroidery make her look like she's trying not to suffer from the cold but the look on her face sends my thoughts in the opposite direction. I too am waiting to see your entire collection in one photo.
Happy beading,
Gita
