"Scrappy Quilt Girl" Spirit Doll
Life has been busy, but I'm finally getting back to my projects. This spirit doll was another made from quilt blocks. Two large blocks made of 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" square scraps were placed right-sides together, then the doll pattern was traced, cut, two sides sewn together and stuffed. Her beading is done with glass seed and bugle beads, some are backed with white sequins. A vintage metal "mood charm" is hanging from one hand, and when it changes color because she's in the mood to sew, she's ready to go with her sewing machine beneath the crystal and polished stone hanging from the other hand. Also, her thread spool is attached at her waist. She has a shisha mirror to reflect all of her moods in the middle of her chest. Her hair was made with the ruffle beading stitch which can be seen more clearly in the photo below. Once again, this spirit doll has home-grown sage imbedded in her stuffing to add to the positive energy of the crystal. She is 7-1/" tall and 6" from hand to hand. Her base is weighted by a pouch of polished river rocks for standing on her own.
