More Vintage in my Collection

Two large vintage spools and a sock darner. Does anyone still darn socks?

LOL NO, no one darns as far as I know. Many years ago we went to Minnesota Fabrics when it was still here and asked for darning thread and they said no one darns anymore so they don't carry it!

I know I do not darn anything but I do have one of these tools myself. I have not seen darning threads either for a very long time. Thank you for the chuckle on a hot humid day here in Ohio! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

I have some winter wool socks that were quite costly. I darn them and make them last. My darner is at least 65 years old.

I remember my mother darning socks. Her darning 'egg' was pink and I loved to play with it when I went through her button collection and sewing stuff. Guess I started out early *smile*!

No, I haven't darned since our kids were small, but I remember my grandmother darning my socks.

I have those, they were from my grandmother's sewing box. I can remember when Tom and I first got married, and I found a hole in the toe of one of his socks. I darned them too well. (LOL) Come to find out, the needle went thru two layers and Tom ended up with a strange sock, as it had a separated area for his big toe.
