Holy Moly!

Why didn't someone tell me I needed to have the yarn shop wind my new hank into a ball?! I took a break in winding just to post this SOS -- all suggestions welcome!

Hi Barbara, you could hang your hank of yarn over the back of a chair-like a kitchen chair perhaps and then just roll it up into a ball-placing the yarn on the back of the chair keeps it from getting all tangled up

If you have a lampshade that it will fit on, loosen the shade so it will spin around. Then wind from there..so much easier. I finally invested in an inexpensive swift and a ball winder.

If you are likely to end up with a lot of hanks as I do, can't resist the beautiful colours, its worth investing in an umbrella swift and a ball winder. They are not that expensive and make life so much easier. The ball winder doesn't actually produce balls as such but what are called doughnuts. Check the internet to find suppliers.

I see one of those winders coming soon to your home. I think they are amazing to watch.
