Paper from Cattails

Harvesting about 8 cattail heads ("punks") that have matured, then going through the cooking and papermaking process with them, yields one sheet of paper.

I don't really think the result is very pretty, and making paper this way is a lot of work; but to do it the same way it was done centuries ago feels pretty special!

In the photo it reminds me of a sheet of sandpaper. Not overly pretty but it could be useful for collage, I think.

I think it's wonderful you are doing this. I have always especially loved handmade paper....I love the color of this one, even though it's plain, perhaps that's a good 'canvas' or support for your art?

I think it IS pretty and a perfect background for whatever it will become.

I too love handmade paper. Using the plants around us is such a good way to create beauty.
